I WAS RAISED UP BELIEVING I WAS SOMEHOW UNIQUE -- A SNOWFLAKE DISTINCT AMONG SNOWFLAKES, UNIQUE IN EACH WAY YOU CAN SEE. BUT NOW AFTER SOME THINKING, I'D SAY I'D RATHER BE A FUNCTIONING COG IN SOME GREAT MACHINERY, SERVING SOMETHING BEYOND ME. BUT I DON'T, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT WILL BE. I'LL GET BACK TO YOU SOMEDAY SOON, YOU WILL SEE. WHAT'S MY NAME? WHAT'S MY STATION? OH, JUST TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO. I DON'T NEED TO BE KIND TO THE ARMIES OF NIGHT THAT WOULD DO SUCH INJUSTICE TO YOU. OR BOW DOWN AND BE GRATEFUL AND SAY 'SURE, TAKE ALL THAT YOU SEE' TO THE MEN WHO MOVE ONLY IN DIMLY LIT HALLS AND DETERMINE MY FUTURE FOR ME. AND I DON'T, I DON'T KNOW WHO TO BELIEVE. I'LL GET BACK TO YOU SOMEDAY SOON, YOU WILL SEE.Read more... )

WARDED TO RUFUS.
I'm sorry to hear about Brutus. How's he doing? And how are you? If you need to blow off some steam over the next few days, I'd be happy to brush up on my duelling skills. When you're up to it, of course.

WARDED TO EUGENE, JEN, MIA AND SIMON.
I'm keeping the lot of you up all night for a drink when I finish my shift. What a sodding awful night.

WARDED TO GAWAIN.
Are you all right? Need anything? A hug? A drink? A shoulder?

WARDED TO SIMON, MIA, JEN & EUGENE.
Have you ever thought about having children? One of my coworkers just had a baby boy and for a brief moment, I've got baby envy. No time for it, though. I'd need a stay-at-home wife or a really flexible sitter. And about a year off so Auror Moody wouldn't scold me for not having slept enough. Maybe when I retire I'll adopt a grown child and live vicariously through the grandchildren.

I was on my shift during tonight's Fireside Chat, but I managed to listen to it on the wireless -- or at least most of it. I don't think this war is anything as simple as winning or losing, but our Minister delivered us some very encouraging words this evening. I have no doubt we'll get through this war, but it never hurts to have a well-timed pep talk.

On a less dire note, I was sorry to hear about Fontana's. If any of you are slightly more adventurous, Muggle London has dozens of incredible Italian restaurants that don't give their customers food poisoning on a regular basis. If that's not enough, the food's pretty tasty as well.

WARDED TO EUGENE ACKERLEY.
Feeling a little better?

WARDED TO ARIADNE KNIGHT AND DULCINEA BULSTRODE.
I apologise for my insensitivity last night in breaking the news about the attack to you in such a manner. I'll admit I was a bit flustered by it, myself, and not thinking entirely practically in that sense. I hope you both are well and I'm very glad your loved ones are all unharmed. If there's anything I can do for either of you, please let me know.

WARDED TO SIMON GREENE AND MIA CORNER.
If you're going to be awake when my shift ends tonight, I demand a round of drinks at mine. My week's technically only just begun, but the whole of it has been enough to make me want to set something on fire, not that that's an entirely abnormal state for me lately.

WARDED TO THE DMLE.
Following Amelia's notice, we went to the address included in the owl and found what appears to be a family of Muggles, all murdered. Their home has the Dark Mark over it, but everything appears to be secure. Jonathan Bones was there, alive, but he appears to have been unconscious during the attack. He didn't remember anything that happened and we've sent him to see the Healers at St Mungo's before we try to question him again. He seemed as though he may have been a bit concussed.

Whoever was behind this wrote 'blood traitor' on the wall and positioned the family -- four people, mother, father, son and daughter -- at the table with place-cards labelled Calypso, Edgar, Evander and Penelope. No signs of forced entry, but they appear to have been killed in the sitting room if the trail of blood is anything to go by. We'll be sending everything to the Crime Lab by the end of our shift.

WARDED TO AMELIA BONES.
We found your brother at the house. He appears to be all right but we've sent him to St Mungo's to have the Healers look him over to be sure.

WARDED TO THE AUROR OFFICE.
It seems those of us named in the broadcast have all received visits from the Order of the Phoenix as of last night. I've one here that says the following:
We have taken the extra precaution to ward your home even further against Death Eaters. We hope that, in the event of an emergency, it will protect you and your family.

We are watching out for you. We are the Order of the Phoenix.
I've taken a survey of my wards and it seems they've added some to what was already there. Ceallach O'Connor brought it to all our attentions this morning and it seems this was not an isolated incident as several others of us received notes. I'm unsure as to whether they were all identical or not, but I'll report any new information as I receive it.

WARDED TO EUGENE ACKERLEY.
I'm coming over to do up your wards before work today. I can't remember if you've got a shift at work or not, but either way, I'm bringing sandwiches and crisps for lunch and I'll leave one for you if you're not there.

WARDED TO THE DMLE CRIME LAB.
I'll be sending along a piece of evidence to your office. I found it this morning at the door of my flat. It is supposedly a note from the Order of the Phoenix, and it seems that several others who were discussed on the Death Eaters' broadcast received similar notes. I will advise them to send them to you as well.

WARDED TO CORMAC O'CONNOR AND ALICE LONGBOTTOM.
Hello, Mr O'Connor. Given the recent broadcast and the mention of your brother, Auror Longbottom and I will be assessing the security measures around his home. He's asked that we take a look at your wards as well and I have assured him we would, so long as it is agreeable to you.

WARDED TO CERYS JONES.
Busy tomorrow? Alice and I have loads of wards to set up and check. It might be a good opportunity for you to get a bit of practise in. And I must warn you, Auror Scrimgeour indicated earlier that the Swing Team, as well as other teams, may be given additional shifts at some point in the future. I figure just as well. With the Death Eaters becoming bolder, it's more and more difficult to sit about on days off. As though there could really be days off in the midst of a war. Best enjoy them while we still can, I suppose. And I'd also like to take a look at your wards if you don't mind.

WARDED TO THOSE NAMED IN THE BROADCAST AND ALICE LONGBOTTOM.
Seeing as we're all being targeted by the Death Eaters and I'm sure we'd all rather stay safe than have any of us hurt, Auror Longbottom and I are going to offer to take a look at anyone's homes, wards, security measures and upgrade them on behalf of the DMLE. I'm sure you're all already familiar with other standard safety recommendations -- I personally advocate the buddy system if you can manage it. Make sure some one knows where you're meant to be at all times. Be wary of your surroundings if you're ever out by yourself. Don't answer the door unless you know who's on the other side. It all seems like common sense, but panic can hit us all fast and it's good to get in the habit sooner rather than later.

Last day on duty for the weekend. As long as twelve-hour shifts can feel, they do seem to fly by. Fortunately, since the holidays are over, the DMLE can shift its focus away from handling drunken holiday party-goers and people out after curfew. Consider this a reminder to help us help you and don't get into any unnecessary trouble. Saturdays are usually the worst and if you're looking for trouble, I'll be looking for you, and if I find you, it won't be pleasant. Let's then just make each others' lives easier and refrain from giving me a reason to find you. We've all got better things to do.

WARDED TO RUFUS SCRIMGEOUR.
Hello, sir. Mediwizard MacDougal suggested to me the other day that we might hold a workshop at St Mungo's specifically for DMLE folks. Their workshops this week were very informative, though Healing in the field is a bit different. I thought it might benefit us all, or at least couldn't hurt, to have a bit of brush-up training. He said Healer Moody would be the one to speak with if we were interested, so I thought I'd pass the information along.
